Our privacy policy, minus the legalese.

COGNAK LLC is a design and development studio based in Los Angeles, California. This page explains how we handle data when you visit cognak.com.

Analytics

We count visits, not people.

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous, aggregate data about how visitors use this site: pages visited, session duration, and general geographic region. This data is never linked to any individual and is not sold or shared with third parties.

We also run Google Ads to advertise our services. If you accept cookies, Google Ads may set cookies to measure whether an ad led to a visit or inquiry, and to improve the relevance of ads you see. No personally identifiable information is collected or shared.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.

Cookies

Nothing is set until you say yes.

Every cookie this site can set, what it does, and how long it lasts. All tracking is consent-gated. Declining prevents any analytics or ad cookie from being set at all.

Only cognak_consent is ours, and it is the only one set if you decline. The rest appear solely after you accept.

Tools

Nothing you type into the generator leaves your browser.

The barcode and QR generator at cognak.com/tools runs entirely in your browser. The numbers, URLs, and settings you enter are never sent to us or to anyone else, and the files you download are produced on your own machine. We never see them and we don't keep a copy. Our analytics record that the page was visited, never what was typed into it.

The generator is free and provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. COGNAK doesn't issue UPC numbers; those come from GS1. How a file reproduces depends on your press, substrate, and scanner, which are outside our control. Always scan a printed proof before committing to a production run.

File Delivery

If we send you files, they expire and then they're gone.

Sometimes we deliver work through a private link on this site, at cognak.com/files. If you've received one of those links, here's how it works. The files are uploaded by COGNAK, never by you, and the link is a long random address that isn't listed, indexed, or guessable. Every link carries an expiry date, chosen when we send it: 7, 30, or 90 days. On that date the link stops working and the files are permanently deleted from our storage provider, Vercel. They aren't archived, moved, or hidden from view, they're gone. If you'd like a delivery removed before its expiry date, email hello@cognak.com and we'll delete it on request.

The page records one thing: whether at least one file in a delivery has been downloaded, so we know the work arrived. It doesn't record who downloaded it, when, or from where, and no name, email, or address is attached to a delivery link.
